ORACLOUS OCTOBUS

This is an oracle card deck I worked on as a 30-day challenge (well, technically 31, with the last prompt being the back cover design) based on unserious (funny) online sayings and lingo in October 2024. The main goal of this project is for me to learn how to simplify and be okay with not cramming things into my art. The prompts are from memorable/iconic (to me at least) sayings that I’ve seen used online over the years - I wanted to make something relatable and modern for chronically online individuals (me) to use as a silly quirky little deck of cards, in divination or just for everyday entertainment purposes. A lot of the "modern" decks I've seen have a more serious tone, aiming to diversify and expand the content of traditional Tarot and oracle cards in terms of representation - which is necessary and valid, make no mistake - but I just think there's a lack of lighthearted nonsensical online culture-based decks out there, so that's why I wanted to make my own silly deck.
